About Adam Nelson & OOVOS Consulting
I built OOVOS because I couldn't find what my clients needed anywhere else. For more than 20 years I worked at the center of public affairs — managing multimillion-dollar grassroots campaigns, running one of the largest corporate PACs in the country, and leading advocacy efforts that moved legislation through Congress. I've sat in the rooms where decisions get made. I know the pressure, the pace, and the politics of this world from the inside.
But the most important thing I ever did was stop.
After years of advancing other people's agendas, I hit a wall. My career had stalled. My personal life was in crisis. And for the first time in two decades, I had to ask myself a question I'd never made time for:
What do I actually want?
That question changed everything.
I stepped back, refocused on my family and my values, and eventually found my way to Brown University's Leadership and Performance Coaching program. Sitting in class after 25 years away — knowing I had a learning disability that made my earlier academic years genuinely hard — I wondered if I still had it.
I did.
Because this time I knew my strengths. And I leaned into them.
I launched OOVOS Consulting to fill a gap I'd seen firsthand.
Public affairs professionals are some of the most capable, driven, high-performing people in the world. And almost none of them have ever been coached. The pace doesn't allow it. The culture doesn't encourage it. And the identity that comes with the work makes it hard to even ask the harder questions.
That's exactly why I show up every day.
My Approach
I don't tell clients what to do. I ask the questions that help them figure out what they actually want — and then give them the tools, the framework, and the accountability to move toward it with confidence instead of anxiety.
My coaching is shaped by decades of hands-on experience in advocacy, grassroots innovation, and executive leadership. I know this world because I've lived it. And I built OOVOS specifically for the people I spent my career working alongside.
