A little about me: 

Adam Nelson is a seasoned executive with 20+years of nonprofit and corporate experience in visualizing, developing, and executing award-winning $1M+ advocacy campaigns. As a grassroots professional, Adam won multiple industry awards for his innovative grassroots efforts. For example, he earned the Public Affairs Council’s Grassroots Innovation Award and the Amy Showalter Group’s Award for Grassroots Innovation.

Executive Director- American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS). During a period of significant industry change, Adam revitalized AACS's executive functions, enhancing member benefits and expanding communication strategies. He successfully managed a $2M+ budget, increased non-dues revenue by $600K through strategic partnerships, and restructured member communications to significantly boost engagement. 

Manager, Public Affairs- Exelon Corporation. In this role, Adam managed daily public affairs and compliance activities for the largest US corporate utility PAC, overseeing $1.8 million per political cycle. He led grassroots outreach efforts, influencing the passage of critical legislation, and managed a 30+ member team across diverse corporate disciplines. Under his leadership, a cross-functional team executed Exelon’s most extensive fundraising campaign, raising $200,000.

​Senior Specialist, Grassroots Outreach & Development- American College of Cardiology. In this role, Adam spearheaded the development of the Cardio Advocacy Network, increasing membership by 700% within three months. He led coalition-building efforts and developed award-winning political programs that strengthened the organization’s influence on state legislative and regulatory matters.​
